Sannihit Sarovar

Sannihit/Sannehit Sarovar is believed to be a meeting point of the seven sacred Sarasvatis and is a sacred water reservoir in Thanesar in Kurukshetra district. Believed to be an abode of Lord Vishnu, it is here that the Rigvedic sage Dadhichi gave up his life for the sake of Indra. Legend says that punyas of 1000 Ashvamedha Sacrifices can be attained if one performs Shradhs at the time of solar eclipse and takes bath in this tank. Another significant aspect of the Sarovar is an ancient belief that by offering reverences and prayers to one’s departed souls can enable moksha of those departed souls, especially those that left of a heavenly abode in an untimely manner. The Sarovar becomes exceptionally soul pacifying during the Gita Jayanti Mahotsav and during the Kumbha Mela as the positivity of millions of devotees and visitors adds to the vibes of the place.
